This course will teach students the basic ideas and reasoning behind the written law and the relation of law to morality.  It involves the nature and logic of legal reasoning and how these aspects affect law as a whole. You’ll be introduced to theories around how the law operates its relation to economic incentives, and questions about the law’s treatment of contemporary social issues. The course delves into the philosophical underpinning of Law, from the making of arguments to the obligation to obey the law and encourages students to think analytically about the Law and legal theory, and the numerous debates it generates. Lawyers and judges use jurisprudence as a guide to correctly interpret certain laws that require interpretation. After completing this course, you will have a better understanding of the fundamentals of the law and how to figure out the actual rule of law when interpreting written law.
