This course will take a view at the legal technology and how the legal field is being changed by the ever-so developing technology of the 21^st century. This course focuses on cultivating students’ problem-solving skills, critical thinking ability, and the adaptability to changing economy that is driven by technological innovations. The development of technology also raises questions of how to effectively safeguard civil liberties, particularly privacy and freedom of expression. We will analyse e-commerce, AI, automation cyberspace and other financial technologies. The course considers the most effective and appropriate regulatory approaches to address such legal challenges in the business and practice of law, from interdisciplinary, international and transnational perspectives. By studying this course, you will know the effects of technology and disruption on the traditional model of legal services, evaluate how technology will change the way lawyers do their jobs and describe innovation and the effects of innovation in law.
